Business challenge

Poorly understood requirements frequently cause software project failures, inefficiencies, rework and duplication of effort. Failure to align development efforts with business needs or manage ever-changing requirements can significantly hinder the delivery of quality products and software. Organizations must therefore effectively elicit, communicate, validate and manage change to project requirements – especially in Agile environments.
Requirements management should be a collaborative process of collecting, documenting, prioritizing, socializing and validating a set of requirements. Without good requirements practices, even project quality initiatives are compromised. To add to the challenge, businesses are under increasing regulatory and compliance pressures and need help with governance. Projects without well formed requirements and change processes, will lack control and direction.

How Caliber 11.3 can help

Caliber™ helps address these challenges by ensuring that all stakeholders are effectively working towards the same goals by means of a shared view of requirements from inception through delivery. A unified approach to requirements visualization, definition and management ensures alignment of business objectives with development deliverables as project teams collaborate to prioritize, approve and understand the impacts of real-time change.
Caliber Author enables creative expression and central storage of requirements, with a simple interface that combines the best authoring and organizing features of Word and Excel. Built-in version control, baseline support, requirements reuse, custom templates, traceability and the ability to generate template-based specification documents, improves requirements management.
Visualizations are tightly integrated with the Caliber Author environment, effectively combining visual use case scenarios and simulations with traditional requirements to form the most comprehensive picture.
Caliber Visualize brings requirement visualizations closer to more stakeholders than ever before. Teams discover, define and manage application requirements visually and interactively using scenarios and simulations to enable effective collaboration.

The simulations bring requirements to life with realistic data and embedded business logic. Stakeholders see how their requirements are interpreted before committing to a lengthy and expensive development effort.
Caliber Review enables the creation of requirements for review and discussion with all stakeholders and the ability to sign-off on baselines.
